Adding to a SCORM Package

Quite a technical question this one to a certain extent.

Basically I am building an eLearning however I don't want to build the whole thing in Captivate or Articulate.  What I want to do is build a HTML/CSS based microsite that goes before the actual eLearning however I would like to deploy it along side the eLearn on our LMS.

I was looking at a SCORM package and it looks as though I can just slot my pages in and repackage, making sure I properly link the two together.  My question is has anyone ever tried anything like this before?

I can host the microsite separately but I would like to deploy it with the eLearn which means uploading to our LMS and making the experience seamless.
