Adding Video "Character"

Oct 05, 2012

I have been using Presenter for a couple years ago, but have just started looking at Storyline the past couple months.  I am hoping someone can tell me if this idea is possible, and if so, how to go about it.

I will be creating four training modules with (I hope) a video "character."  We want to add the "character" in the center screen, not the "talking head" on the side panel.  And, when I say "character" I am talking about a real person that we will shoot video of, standing up somewhere talking. Essentially, the module will include narration throughout, but in a few different areas we will bring in the video of her talking, kinda like she is IN the action on the screen. We want to be able to display content on the screen while the video plays (she would be commenting about the content on the screen).  Is it possible to layer video with content like this?  Or, will we need to figure out how to isolate just her body in the video?

We have the ability to shoot in front of a green screen and add whatever background we want, like a solid color.  This could work if we can layer content on top of the video...

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Hi Carrie and welcome to the Heroes forum.

Yes - you can layer content on top of video.

It's one of the great thing about SL - for example, adding arrows and explanatory text boxes over a product video when explaining different elements.

The best thing to do is get some stock video and play around to see what's possible.

Once again welcome, and just ask anything you need to.
