Any Washington, DC Elearning Developers?

Jun 25, 2014

Hi,

Are there any elearning developers in the Washington, DC area to meet up for some networking?  I have 14 years of video production experience and am earning a certificate in distance education from UMBC online. It would be great to meet folks who work in the elearning field if possible.

Thanks,

Doug

Best of luck with your networking Doug.

Hey Doug,

I am in the DC area and also at UMBC in the Masters program for ISD. I have found that local chapter events for ASTD and ISPI have been my best networking opportunities around here.  You should be sure to check them out.  In fact, the local ASTD chapter has occasional events/webinars specifically for job seekers/career changers.  There is an upcoming webinar on July 11 that I believe is free even for non-members.  http://www.dcastd.org/Event_Calendar?eventId=918933&EventViewMode=EventDetails

I don't have a ton of time outside of work right now for networking and the like, but feel free to get in touch if you ever need anything.

Hello everyone.

This seems to be an older topic now, though I was curious. How is the E-learning industry in D.C.? Are there several companies focused in E-learning there? (companies that utilize programs like Storyline, have instructional designers, etc.) There are probably quite a few gov't jobs.. but E-learning companies other than that is what I'm wondering about.

Also, what about other companies related to E-learning, such as educational technology, and such, in D.C.?

Just trying to get a feel on which cities have a fairly good sized E-learning industry with a good amount of people working for related companies!

Thank you for your time.

I'm about 8 months late to this party, but I figured I'd throw my name into the hat. I've been an instructional designer for the last five years. I got into the industry producing interactive audio instruction programs to teach English. After receiving my masters from GMU, I transitioned into a career as a blended learning instructional designer. Always looking for opportunities to learn and network.
