Arrow keys

I'm trying to get arrow keys to allow me to move through my course. I can't use the next slide/previous slide, as not every slide will be in that order, so I'm using triggers to jump to slides, however, when I set up a trigger (jump to slide 1.2 when user presses [left] on Layer "Kittens2", even thought this is the layer is showing, it does nothing. On the same slide I have a trigger to jump on the enter and escape key, which both work. 

Any suggestions what I might be doing wrong? 

I've found a number of threads on how to fix this using the next/previous slide function, but can't use it in my course.
