AS2 / Power Point Mock-Up

I have a client that wants to use AS2 to create a training module that works like PPT but is made in AS2,

I suggested:

Step 1: recording in PPT (by module) saving as video and using handbreak to convert to MP4 format.

Step 2: Insert modules as scenes in AS2 - to take advantage of the MENU controls.

I was asked: Is there a way that the Slide Show can be created like PPT - where the slides advance with a click and the "mic" is used to record - without having to manually set the AS2 timeline?

I said: well I don't know - but there area bunch of people who will - Ill ask them!

any advise would be welcome - perhaps some best practices using PPT w/ AS2.
