I have no idea what happened. I was moving items on the time line when all of a sudden I have a big red X where my base layer should be - and I have no idea how to get rid of it. My base layer is no longer listed but the slide and elements on it are working?
I'm sorry you're experiencing this. There are some best practices you can follow in order to prevent this fom happening in the future. However, if it keeps on happening, make sure you're not working/accessing a file that is saved on a network, you may try importing this file into a brand new blank file, or try repairing it. I wanted to add there are not states - this is the "normal" base layer and now I cannot change the title on the base layer.
Nancy, that is super weird! Have you tried restarting SL? Don't save though - it might make the error stick.
Or rather, Save As a new file. That way if you reopen and it doesn't work, you have the fallback version.
