Best tool to make a simulation that doesn't look like a simulation

I have a problem I hope someone has an answer.

The situation is I have an application that doesnt allow to refresh of its database. So when we run an exercise once its still there for the next learner. For this reason I am thinking of creating a simulation.

However, users have clearly stated that they do not want a simulation and want "hands-on" repeatable training in the application itself.

To resolve these opposing ideas- of whats not possible and whats wanted - how do I make n application simulation that doesnt look like one?

1. It will need to have fields completed by the user with text and number input, dropdown menus, and small secondary windows appear based upon user input.

To successfully complete the task in the application could be 50 clicks/field enteries. Adding incorrect paths could multiple that by 4.

What tool would you recommend to build this in and yet allow for so much branching?

And of course, without the obvious look of a simulaton?

2. I think this could be come a big file in term of slides and file size would that be a consideration also for the tool you would recommend?
