Can I convert Storyline file back into Studio?

Jul 30, 2012

OK so I'm new at e-learning, though not to training. I got a request to develop an e-learning course and was told to use 'Articulate'. I checked it out, downloaded Storyline and I'm 98% complete with my course and 28 days into the 30 day trial. When I made a procurement request I discovered that my company already owns several Articulate Studio licenses. I'm not thrilled about the possibility of moving backwards but I need to do my due diligence and discover whether this is even possible. Is it possible to take a course developed in Articulate Storyline and open/edit it in Articulate Studio? And if it is, what capabilities will I be losing? My course currently uses the simulation features, exams, triggers/layers/states, character poses etc.

Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

Hi Stacey! I'm sorry, unfortunately, there really isn't a way to open or edit your Storyline content in Articulate Studio, since they are very different products, with different features. Studio doesn't currently offer simulation features, triggers, states, layers or characters. You could at least export your screen recording as an MP4 and insert that into an Articulate Studio product, but of course then it would be just a straight movie and not an interactive simulation. As far as the quizzes you've built in Storyline, if you had to rebuild those in Quizmaker it would go fairly quickly because many of the question-editing tools are quite similar, but unfortunately there's not a way to export from one and import into another.
