Can you give my course intro a more professional look?

May 21, 2014

Or advice me!

The introduction to the menu comes off a bit amateurish in my opinion (which isn't too surprising as I still am one) but perhaps you could help me out in giving a more professional look to it?

You can see it here: https://www.googledrive.com/host/0B06l0DbA7g8lZlhwSUpFV3RSUVE/

And if you'd like to modify the source file to show me how you think I've uploaded it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B06l0DbA7g8lZ0x0NFNWb215OTQ/edit?usp=sharing

But I am of course grateful for all advice I get!

Please don't pay attention to the bad language as the original is in swedish.

Hey Eric!

IMO this is looking really sharp. If theres one improvement I can suggest it would be that instead of having the character standing over top of the bright pink background for the first few slides, perhaps you could use a slightly blurred and/or faded image of a hospital hallway (or other appropriate location). Then it would look more like she's standing in a real setting, instead of floating on top of a solid color background. Just my two cents

I agree completely.

AGREE! Without a background image of some sort, I can't stop staring at the pink background. The doodle-style arrow could probably be revised to something solid (and not doodle-esque) for a more professional flare, but I like it as it is. Also - the background image with the candles seems a bit out of place, I would suggest using the same hospital style background that Nicole recommended using for the first few slides.

I agree with everyone else. There is too much negative space around the character. You can increase her size and crop her off to make it seem less empty. Another thing is I would just start with the menu background you have on the last few slides. It seems strange to have the single colored background and then jump to the menu background.  For the character, I would make her come out of pop-ups instead of putting her in the screen.  This is just my idea.

Hello Eric apologies for the delay in responding.

I actually took on a very similar approach to Jerson in my efforts here except I aligned the character along the bottom of the screen so that she could remain in place.

I think by using cropped images of characters you give yourself the best of both worlds, having a narrator along with text to support your user actions.

Jerson has done a great job of illustrating this. Immediately it was my first thought to change the module - I would also look into the colour scheme and attempt to subtly change the colours in certain sections/buttons.
