I have a client who wants to use images of Steve Jobs, Martha Stewart, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and Roberto Clemente in an elearning module. Of course, they want the images to be free and without any copyright issues. I don't know if this is even possible, but does anyone have suggestions as to where I might find such mythical beasts?
I recently created a course for a healthcare organisation on topics like mental health, where some celebrity pictures were required to emphasis the diseases incidence for the medical staff in the general public. They had been approached and emailed to permit use of their name and picture to create awareness of these conditions.
In my case the pictures were of live celebrities so it was easier to use them once we had their written permission however, in your case I would be interested to know what the approach is.
I followed Alexandros Anoyatis's advice and found images on Wikimedia Commons. They even give you instructions on how to attribute the images, which was most helpful. Hope this helps you in the future.

Hi Gina,
Wikimedia Commons is one place you can get images of this kind. The selection is not as broad as you may like, but I reckon it'll do.
Hope this helps,
Alex
Hi Alex,
Yes, this was great! I found images that I can use, with attributes, of course. Most helpful!
Thanks,
Gina
