Creating an ePortfolio

Hi,
I am looking to create an ePortfolio. My background has been in the learning and Development industry in high-tech companies. I am a certified Instructional Designer, worked with eLearning Project Management and designing, developing and delivering training in different formats.
I have been stay home mom for about five years (during this time I got my ID Certificate) and am now ready to go back to work. My question is what are some recommended domains to host my portfolio. I am looking for something that is easy to use, update etc. Even if there is a small fee to be paid, that's fine.
Thanks for your help.

Wow, Stephanie! Your site is awesome. I feel like my site (built in WordPress) makes me look like a schmuck in comparison. I should have thought about using Storyline within the site to present information. Doh!
Now . . . off to revise and bring my e-portfolio into the 21st century
Thank you for the inspiration
Anna
I agree, some of you have these awesome websites. I would love to have something like that one day. I think the challenge is for first time ePortfolio creators (like me). I think Wordpress is a good starting point.
Just wondering what people here think of the domain:

Another option is a hybrid web site that combines searchable non-Storyline elements and Flash Storyline elements. At the risk of crass self-promotion, you might want to look at my site which includes a couple of Storyline tools - an 'About us' module and a Storyline gallery of examples of the calculators I produce.

Thanks Kevin. I will take a look at your website.

Hello,
Try Mahara (https://mahara.org/)
You will have to download and install it. But you could use this also (built with Mahara)

Thanks Joe. Will definitely look into it.

If you'd like something free then you could try:
http://www.weebly.com/
https://www.yola.com/
http://www.wix.com/
I gave wix a try a few weeks ago. It's a little harder to use than the other two, but also more aesthetically pleasing. They're free options, but you have to live with some ads.

Hi Sean, thanks for the info. I have tried out yola. It's good, easy to use, but limited in its use. I'll check the others too.
Thanks.

@Michael Heckman
Squarespace is exactly what I'm looking for. Thank you Michael.
Here's my portfolio done with the WordPress plugin WP-Portfolio:

There are other options, like choosing a portfolio theme:

My advice is, look around and decide what sort of look and features you want for your portfolio, find a theme or plugin that does what you want, and don't exclude commercial themes and plugins. Your portfolio presents the best you have to offer, so you don't want to skimp on it.. One of the best affordable options for hosting is Bluehost, in my opinion; it's the solution I recommend to my clients who can't afford (or don't need) a higher-end solution:

Finally, you want to address backups and security. I recommend BackupBuddy for backups, and WordFence for security monitoring. Also, Better WP Security for its security lockdown features (things you do when you're setting up the site).
You also want to avoid Flash solutions ... many managers and executives are now using iPads (ours do here, even though they're forbidden for lowly employees like me
).
Unfortunately tons of companies still use IE. In fact I recently had to do a project in which the company was just transitioning from IE 6 to IE 8 so I had to make sure the modules ran on IE 6.
We got the stragglers off IE6 and onto IE7 not that long ago. There are old applications still in use that will only run on IE6. Currently, a large percentage of people are on IE7 and Windows XP in the company, but there's a project ongoing to get everyone up to Windows 7.
IT departments are typically very conservative with regard to change, particularly in large companies.
Stephanie, loved your site. However it looks as if done in HTML or with word press. My thoughts are based on the fact that I did not see the 800/600 dimensions. Perhaps I am wrong :) How do you achieve the long scrolling scene? Thanks again.
Very nice. Just wondering how can I get rid of the blue lines. I have it in my wordpress portfolio too. Thanks
