[DEMO] - Taking tablets abd screen recordings a step further...

May 20, 2012

Hi,

Patti's thread got me thinking - when would you be able to use tablets in a course, also using Storyline's great screen recording facilities.

I am not an educator, and I am sure that anyone who is an expert in these things could probably do it better, however, here's a sampler using a Bamboo tablet, screen recording, and screen-recording "view" and "Try" modes.

Try mode did not quite work as I expected with this, I was hoping that I could actually simulate the dragging, rather then just a "click", but perhaps in a future release, or maybe someone who is more experienced.

Anyway - writing the letter "A".

OK Bruce,  I was searching for Storyline demos for another post, and discovered this hidden treasure that somehow fell through a cyber -crack.  This is great Bruce!   Love the idea of using a tablet to create hand drawn content.

I just got a tablet and have barely played with it. Can you share how you recorded on the Wacom?  Did you use a plain background when you recorded?  What program were you in to record your drawing?

Well, now that this is popping back to the top, others will hopefully see it.

Thanks for stretching my mind - again!

OK Jill - time to confess....I have very little memory of the details how I did that !

I think it was one of those "...post Merlot" moments, where I suddenly got all creative, and then because it languished in the forums and did not generate any interest I moved on...

I got a "notepad" application with my Wacom, and I recorded onto that - just used it while the SL Screen Capture was running.

The Notepad had a green background, so what you see in the (now attached) .storyfile is the first frame of the app. showing through.

I then added the writing guide-lines in SL to match the writing, reverse engineering it.

Recording graphs by hand for example would be more interesting than using .ppt.

I use a whole set of Tom's hand-drawn symbols regularly in courses, (the red arrows you see here are his...).

I have just not got around to mining this heavily-loaded vein of creativity any further yet.

Thanks for reminding me of this one. Sure there are a million things that it could be used for...

Thanks for popping me back to the top

Bruce
