Drag and drop trigger

May 31, 2012

I'm using the free trial of Storyline and was wondering whether the following is possible with standard Storyline functionality i.e. without having to create something bespoke in flash.

I want to make an interactive menu slide whereby the user drags something to the required menu option. Once the 'thing' has been dragged and dropped over the menu item I need it to trigger a jump to scene (or slide) action.

Converting the slide to free form doesn't help me as although I could add a trigger to jump to a scene the free from drag and drop functionality supersedes that trigger and I can't get rid of the submit button. I'd also need to make the drag item draggable onto all of the menu items...

Perhaps I need to have a rethink on whether this is actually adding anything from an ID perspective! Any ideas welcomed : )

I dont think it is a very good form a usability point of view (it may work in your context though).  This is possible just dont use a question (this is what happens when you convert the slide to freeform.  The drag and drop triggers are available at all times on the slide, and you do not need the submit button when you dont use it as a question.

You caould then add a trigger that jumps to a slide when object is dropped on another object

Thank you - yes that does work from a technical point of view but maybe, as you say, it's not the best from a user's - although a drag action is 'different' (and usually less common) than just a click so maybe it has some merit...

I'm just playing around to see what's possible and had hit a bit of a brick wall so thank you for helping me out. Much appreciated.
