Excel elearning - newbie

Feb 03, 2016

Hi folks.  I'm a fairly new elearning developer writing a course for learning specific formulae etc. in Excel 2016.  I've bashed in all the content and will shortly be starting to try and make it look interesting.  Any tips for making it fun and engaging?

Cheers,

Sarah.

Hi Sarah!

As a certified Microsoft Excel Trainer/Specialist, your project is the sort of thing I've been dying to try out in Storyline! ;)

The best suggestions I can think of for now would be to consider the following points:

  1. Use visuals, animations, etc, in your project to make things jazzy visually.
  2. Create engaging content in the Excel Worksheets and Formulas themselves to make the content interesting in and of itself.

I would advise doing a little of #1 (not too much, otherwise it could distract), and more of #2.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Mark - that's useful advice. I got as far as taking the MCSE
courses a while ago, but the MCT qualification came out shortly after that.
I didn't get round to getting it though - too busy actually training
Microsoft stuff face-to-face. Then got involved in elearning and found that
it's quite fun really!
