Football game: Beat the variable

Sorry to bump this after a while!

This is really clever and a good example of how I would like to use triggers in my projects.

Would anyone be able to explain the use of triggers and conditions in this project?

The numbers are confusing me on conditions like this;

"move / object / path / when user clicks

on condition / shot == equal to 8"

I would really like to learn more about such conditions but I haven't found any resources that explain things simply enough.
