Fun interaction ideas wanted!
Jul 13, 2018
I'm creating a Health and Safety module in Storyline for some of the site workers at my company and I want to create an interaction that is interesting, but not too difficult/time-consuming for me to make (no more than an hour or so) as it is part of a bigger course I still need to build and time is limited.
The topic of the interaction is 'key hazards' and I want to help employees to see the most hazardous areas for our employees and maybe reveal them in an interesting way. I have a list of 14 hazards and they are quite varied from road traffic accidents, to thefts, working at height etc.
Any ideas welcome!

I can think of a few ideas. Have a drag n drop where you have an image of the hazard and the learner has to match it with the text. For example an image of a traffic accident links to the text traffic accidents.
Another option is have a map of your site and when the learner clicks areas of the map, they see the hazards OR use markers on the map to show the hazards.
Hope this helps, good luck!
Thanks Jeffrey, I like the map idea. It would also be quite quick to do, especially if I use markers.
As an alternative to using markers as suggested by Jeffrey you could place hotspots over the hazard. Correctly selected hotspots build up a score and incorrect selections (i.e. not on the hazard hotspot) could reduce the score. At the end of all the hazard locations a total score would reveal relevant feedback on performance/the option to try again.
I agree with Sam, it just depends on what results you want. One of the problems with hotspots or markers is you cannot use conditional triggers and test their states. If you need to do that, you can add states to markers or reconfigure buttons.
Sometimes a designer just needs an easy quick solution.
You can use shapes as hotspots (just make them transparent) - that way you can add states and conditional triggers to your heart's content.
