Gaps in variable & Feedback layer editing

Problem 1 : I am asking user to enter their name (in image - see Rac) & storing it in a variable. When I am reinserting this variable, I am getting spaces in the starting. 

Problem 2 : How can I edit the background color (grey) of this Feedback layer. I am only getting the option to edit the background layer when I am editing it using Feedback Master.

Problem 3: I am designing a sales module and I want trainees to complete the course though I don't want to evaluate them. Is there a way out for doing this?
