Handling changes in a course direction

Mar 06, 2012

Hi there,

I'm relatively new to the rapid development world.  A colleague and I are working on a couple of courses and we chose to go the rapid development route for a project with a few course deliverables.

Throughout the development of one of the courses, we've decided that it is too large and complicated, and rather than using branching and multiple scenarios, the decision to break it up into 3 courses was made.

Is there a recommended way to do this without breaking too many of the links?

We are using the entire suite of capabilities, including narrations, interactions, and quizzes.  Through moving the slides around and saving the original presentation into the 3 different courses, a number of the interactions have lost their links (we get an error opening them saying it can't find the file (although it seems to open the mp3s and a number of other files).  We've also lost the audio in many cases, and have to either re-record it, or go back to the original files and export the audio files, then import them into the new presentations.

We appreciate any help that this community can provide.

Cheers,

Jamie

I don't know if this is the level of sophistication you're looking for, but what worked for me was to copy the entire course contents 3 times and into 3 seperate folders. Then I removed what I DIDN'T need in each course. Yes I ended up with extra things I didn't need in each folder, but I had less to tweak that way and unnecessary file duplicates didn't break my course. I always figured I'd go back a delete the extra pieces I didn't need in each file, but since space isn't an issue for me I haven't gotten to that yet.
