Help for creating a dynamic learning add-on for Blackboard to enhance interactive learning exchanges

Dec 28, 2015

I teach for Northeastern State University in Oklahoma and use the online Blackboard system for distance learning. I have created teaching modules for Blackboard but am looking for an application that will promote dynamic interaction and exchanges between teach and students, students and other students from time to time. Something that will liven up the online teaching forum. For instance, making quizzes more interactive and fun. Being able to assemble a video exchange on the spot for a student that they can respond to and send back the dynamic exchange to the instructor. Does anyone have suggestions. Articulate is great but is not exactly what I am look for.

Thanks Mark T, adjunct instructor for NSU CE tozzio@nsuok.edu

I wonder if VoiceThread would be more of what you're looking for. You can create a presentation and students can comment with text, audio, or video. Voicethread can also integrate with Blackboard so students don't need a separate login.

Here are some example projects using VoiceThread: https://voicethread.com/about/library/

For quizzing, there are interactive video tools that can show some video and then pause for a question. Viddler is one option, but there are a number of players in that space since it's fairly new. I haven't used any of the interactive video tools, but it might be worth exploring.
