How to print notes taken during a course
Jun 09, 2023
Watching a video on LinkedIn Learning about Variables (Articulate 360: Advanced Actions by David Anderson), and I really liked the idea of a journal.
I added a new button to the menu called "Notepad" to appear as a lightbox of the scene and slide with the text entry on it, and that's working fine (Like up where Resources would appear in the player).
I added a "Print Slide" button and that kind of works, but with mixed results. It's just printing a screenshot of the slide. I also tried adding a lot of lines and it didn't capture everything or add a scroll bar. A few things I was hoping to accomplish:
- have the text entry include a scroll bar, so if people took a lot of notes it would capture all of them
- Create a different size scene, one that is a portrait shaped scene instead of a landscape so it looked like it was going to print out on paper
- The only options we have a print slide, and a print results. I'm trying to think of a way to set the text entry to a the results variable so that I can use the print results trigger
Is there any way to accomplish this without having to try and learn javascript?

There was an e-learning challenge on this a while back: https://community.articulate.com/articles/learning-journal-examples-in-elearning/ and I thought since Jodi's example there has a download, you can see what she did and look under the hood at the file she created.
Thanks so much! I'll definitely check these out and see what I can incorporate
