I found a nice work around for auto-saving in Storyline

Jun 04, 2014

Storyline is a great piece of software, but I know there are a lot of days that I wished it had an auto-save feature. Yesterday I had been doing some audio syncing when a crash occurred and it spurred me to look for a solution.

I ran across this little program called Saver. It's a small script that basically hits "CTRL+S" every once in a while. It does have a couple of quirks, but so far, so good.

I wrote up a little how-to post on installing it and how to use it. It covers the little quirks too.

Just wanted to share!

Very nice, Rachel!

Will definitely install this one on my laptop soon (!) :)

Another tip I have found helpful for all of my development work is to use File > Save As using another filename every hour or so, (I essentially version the heck out of every project I build), so I have a fairly recent backup if my current version crashes or gets corrupted.

On a given day, I usually create 5-6+ new filename versions of the project(s) I am working on in Storyline.

Thankfully, I've never had to test it, but better safe than sorry!
