Inspiration for Stop-and-Reflect type of slides
Dec 12, 2019
Hi all!
I'm building a series of eight courses where I like to put in a reflection moment right before learners test their knowledge. No wrong or right answers, just stopping, taking a moment to think and reflect on their progress.
However, I don't want to use the exact same format every time and I'm kind of stumped for inspiration. So I was wondering if any of you amazing designers have proven formats or questions you like to use to make a learner pause, look back and reflect?
Note: the information is not sent to the LMS, it is purely intended to aid their own learning process.
One example I have already used is one where the learners are presented with a list of keywords they made as a 'warm-up' exercise at the start of the course. Then they are asked with a slider if their opinions changed much.
I've added a blank screenshot (that would normally be filled with keywords stored in variables) of this one.

I have asked open ended questions and then have a button where they can reveal the answers.
Do you use the text entry option for these open questions?
Do you have some examples of what you would ask?
I didn't capture their thoughts, so I didn't use any text entry. I don't work for the same company any more so I don't have the examples. I just asked questions about what they just learned.
Hi Karen, I have used text entry in the past but find that most people don't take the time to enter their thoughts. Sometimes a simple yes and no option to a thought-provoking question is enough to do the trick. Here is a simple example I created in a course I am working on to get people to think about colour theory.

Thank you!
I like it, especially with the feedback on the right side. I will definitely be putting this in my inspiration folder, if I may.
Glad you liked it, feel free to use it for inspiration.
