Navigation Challenges

I have just created a new project, however I am having challenges with the menu navigation. Not sure what I am doing wrong and I know someone here can help me.
I have my main slide with menu options.(slide 1.1)
When a user selects one of the menu options the user goes to a new scene (2.1) with further course options.
What I need to happen is for the user to complete all course options from the scene(2.1) and then return to the main menu automatically upon completion
Can someone please advise on the easiest way to make this happen
Many Thanks

Does it have to be automatic? Could there be a button that shows up saying "Hey you made it!" or something that takes them back to 1.1? I've been using values that change the states of buttons from hidden to normal when a specific area has been completed for something similar to this.
Hi Gavin you might need to create variables for this but since I am not totally clear about your set up it would be good if you could provide a little more information ( do the course options on slide 2.1 jump to other slides when selected or is all the content they need to review on slide 2.1?) It would be best if you could post your story file so that we can take a look at how you have things set up.
Thanks for your response
See the attached document. The course option buttons lead to additional slides and then return back to this slide.
The trigger I have created is then meant to revert automaticaly back to the Main Menu slide after each of the buttons have been visited
Hi Gavin, you will need to set up variables to achieve what you want to do here. I have set up an example for you that I think does what you want to achieve. Take a look at it and let me know if you have any further questions. I am not sure how much you know about adding variables in Storyline but you set them up by clicking on the x as indicated in the pic.
