Need help/inspiration/suggestion for building a help screen

Oct 09, 2013

Hello guys!

I am currently building a help/navigation page that provides learners some tips on how to use/navigate the player before proceeding with their wbt.

I was hoping if you can provide some links/previous discussions where I can find some ideas/inspiration/suggestion in building the help screen to make it look more professional and interesting.

Thanks and more power to you all!

Kind regards,

Ron

Hi Ron! Welcome to the community!

Here are 2 blog posts from Tom Kuhlmann that are related to your question and include several examples.

More than a dozen ways to navigate an eLearning course

Do you really need instructions on how to use an eLearning course

Have you checked out the Community Showcase yet? You can see different examples in there too. Are you working with Storyline or Studio? My favorite method is to put all of the instruction on one slide with markers or an Engage interaction and put the whole thing at the top of the player bar. Learners can review as needed but don't have to look at it before beginning every single course.

I hope this is helpful. Have a good one!

My favorite example thus far is here: https://player.vimeo.com/video/204931315

We used that example as inspiration for our own "How to navigate" interaction that we insert into every Articulate Presenter video.

Within the first slide or two, we include a hyperlinked object (that looks like a button) that people can click on if they want to learn how to navigate through the course. Otherwise, they can just skip it.
