Software Simulations

Mar 07, 2015

Hi everyone,

(apologies for cross-posting this request)

I'm considering purchasing Articulate Storyline for some corporate training that I'm developing. One of the things that we're interested in doing is creating some software simulations, where the user can actually type in and interact with a custom software (developed in house). How easily can this be done in Storyline and does anyone have examples that I could see a final product?

Thanks!

Matthew

Hi Matthew!

In my current incarnation, the courses I'm developing are exclusively software training, with the majority of the course focused on simulating the system we are teaching. Storyline works really well for what we are doing. I use the screen recording feature in Storyline, and then export screenshots from that. It allows me to really customize the interaction, as well as do some photoshop editing when the recorded screen isn't just right.

Its been a evolving process for me, and as I look a the courses I've developed, i can see my own growth in them.

Here's a link to a couple of them:

Enterprise Reporting

Bill Analysis & Tracking System

HRMS Garnishments

Hi Matthew -

The  most effective way to evaluate whether Storyline can do what you need is to download the fully functional free trial version.

Everyone's needs and skillsets are different, so it can be risky for someone else to say whether Storyline would be "easy" for your team or effective. (But I would bet money that it would be both. :) )
