its hard to say without seeing the file - if you could upload the .story file that would be helpful to people trying to solve the issue for you.
Have you checked that there is not a trigger that jumps to the next slide when the timeline starts (could be a slide based trigger or on a slide master layout)

No such trigger. I checked them all

Is the problem that the slide is not in the menu or is it that you can't access the slide at all from the previous slide in the course?
