Storyline

Nov 24, 2011

I know there is another post on Storyline but the number of comments is astronomical (and the fact that this forum is very clumsy with many comments), I thought I would start a new one.

Anyone have information on the status of this product? Especially potential timing for release? Are we looking at early 2012? End? 2013?

Can someone tell me what we can expect from Storyline vs. Articulate? We use Articulate Studio 09.

  • Will it make sense for me to switch to Storyline?
  • What does Articulate do that Storyline won't do?
  • Is HTML5 going to be the main difference?
  • Who is the real target market for Storyline vs. Articulate?
  • We've recently launched a new product built with Articulate. Should we be thinking of switching to Storyline?
  • Can we pull data from Storyline without building a full LMS?

Hi All,

I just need to confirm my understanding of where Articulate is with iOS. My understanding from the forums is that right now people can use iSWifter or similar to play Articulate Studio on their MAC/iPad. There is no plan to allow Articulate Studio to publish for iOS. There is, however, a product called Storyline that will be released at some point that will allow HTML5 publishing which can be used on MAC products, but this will require me to learn a new rapid-development platform. Is this all correct??

I'm asking because a couple of my clients are moving heavily to iPads.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Keith, Macs can use flash and always have, its only iOS devices  that cannot, not sure if articulate have announced plans for studio but I would expect the next version to publish to html 5 and work on iOS devices and storyline will also publsih to iOS as well,

I didn't see an answer to John's questions:

"Can someone tell me what we can expect from Storyline vs. Articulate? We use Articulate Studio 09."

               and

"What does Articulate do that Storyline won't do?"

Does anyone have these answers?  Is storyline a separate product from the new studio?  And the biggest question of all....when the heck is it coming out??? I've been waiting since last fall as clients are demanding the ability to publish to html5 and better accessibility.

Thanks!

We're considering switching from our current LMS to Articulate Online and we're also very interesting in Storyline. Since Articulate Online converts to Flash are there any considerations for it converting to HTML5 when Storyline is used to create content?

Hi Mike. Storyline will have HTML5 support in Articulate Online.

Mike Hipsher

... so just to confirm .. Articulate Online will accept Storyline's HTML5 and as a result the content can be viewed on an iPad/iPhone.  We're looking for a one stop shop .. course creator .. publisher .. LMS/ flash/HTML5  .. and it sounds like Articulate is moving toward letting us do that.  Are there any current and more in depth demos of Articulate Online .. I found one from a year ago but it was very basic.  Thanks.

Looks to me like all of these posts have something to do with Storyline.  And, btw, don't you  think if Articulate knew when Storyline would be released they would publish the date so they wouldn't have to read all these posts     Meantime, see the post, a few  back,  that gives you a link to sign up if you want to be notified when Storyline is released.
