Structure and Design vs. Delivery?

Jul 24, 2013

Hi All!

I've been asked to create a 45 minute e-Learning Module, but they only want me to do the content and design (I.e.. create the scenarios, questions, and quizes.)  How do I present this? In a Word Document?  Does the Design mean that I suggest a layout and they do the rest?  Not quite sure how to proceed since I'm only doing part of the work.  Any guidance is helpful! Thanks!

I would definitely reach back out to your client to clarify, but my first thought is they would be expecting some kind of storyboard (there are some good templates in the download section of this site). I would recommend starting with an outline, where you write the objectives and detail the learning activities (such as "drag and drop interaction") and assessment method. Get sign off on that and find out who will be providing the content.

Next, I'd proceed to storyboard (detail will depend on what they are looking for). You'll need to know information about who you're handing it off to. Is it a developer who will create a custom solution from scratch? Are they using a rapid development tool like Storyline or Captivate? Will they be handling the graphic design?

For your sake and theirs, I would talk about the scope and expectations more before I proceeded to create anything.

Hope this helps!
