Tip: Clearing Cache
Feb 09, 2011
One of the things that we run into when testing during development is the browser cache. Some environments make clearing the cache a chore. I found this easy tip somewhere a long time ago and now I have a quick shortcut in my Quick Launch toolbar for one click cache clear. Here's how I did it:
1. Create a shortcut.
2. In the shortcut configuration (Shortcut tab), set the Target: field to:
C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe InetCpl.cpl,ClearMyTracksByProcess 8
3: Set the Start in: field to:
C:\Windows\system32
4. Click OK and move your shortcut to the spot where it's most convenient. I moved mine to my quick launch folder (Right click the quick launch bar and select Open Folder).
A quick way to give you easy to reach cache clearing without cascading through menus. This only works for IE I believe. There's a different setup for other browsers.
