Hi Heroes
I am fairly new at this but I am trying to let a trigger change the state of an object on the target slide but it just does not work:
3 Avatars on welcome slide.
The user selects an Avatar.
The selected Avatar is displayed on the target slide
I have created a number variable and set initial value to zero
Created 3 triggers to change the value to 1 , 2 or 3 if the user clicks avatar 1 ,2 or 3
Created 3 triggers to change the state of the object on the target slide.
Each object on the target slide is an avatar from the welcome slide.
Does anyone know where I may be going wrong?
Thanks
Gary

On the target slide, do you use the "When variable xyz changes' condition in the triggers to display the avatars?
Do you have your triggers in the right order? The trigger to update the avatar variable needs to come before moving on to the target slide.
OK Michael
Thanks for your reply. Yes I am using the when variable on the target slide.
Thanks
Hi Mike
I was not aware that the sequence the triggers are in had an effect. I will examine that now.
Thanks again
'When variable changes' is limited to the slide where the change actually happens (in your case that's the Welcome slide). On the target slide(s), you need to your "When timeline starts" in the Change State triggers.
That did not work. So I have decided to add a screenshot so someone may be able to figure it out.
I have attached a screenshot of the target slide.
On the previous the user has 3 buttons to choose from 1,2,3 when the usr clicks then this slide should show the user's choice of 1,2, or or 3. The variable is working but the state does not change.
Thanks a lot guys.
Can you share the two slides Gary so we can see the trigger setup
Here is a very rough sample of what I think you are trying to do
Hi Wendy
That's exactly what I am trying to do. I am surprised I needed to use separate variables.
I very much appreciate your help.
The only other issue now is if the user changer their mind and goes back to the welcome slide the variables do not reset seem to reset.
Will i need to use another set of variables?
Many thanks
Gary
Hi Gary
perhaps if you share your slide and I can see the setup you may not need separate variables - I was just going on your screenshot where you had variable2 and variablex.
Variables are global and don't reset on their own or by using 'reset to initial state' in the slide properties. You need to trigger them back to default state OR use a unique variable.
