I have a number of courses where I have used drag & drop quizzes - using them to ask the user to group items together into particular "boxes". I now need to upgrade my courses to be accessible compliant so can't use drag & drop.
You could use multiple-response questions that ask the user to select all responses that belong in a designated "box" (group). Of course, you'd need a separate question for each group.
Alternately, you could create a multiple-choice/single-response question for each item, with the question asking which group it belongs in. Depending on the number of items, though, that could be a bit tedious (to create and to take).
