Articulate Review: Passwords Being Required
I'm using Articulate Review for the first time for my Articulate Presenter 360 course. Even though I have checked the box that allows people to enter comments without a password, when the reviewer clicks the comment box, she enters her email address, but then is asked for a password. The reviewer does not have any previous experience with Articulate, so does not have an existing Articulate account/password. What can I do?
Hi Jane,
I'm sorry you're SMEs are having difficulty leaving comments, and thanks for checking out the earlier videos and examples shared.
Our team can help delete any Articulate IDs that need to be removed, and I'd ask that you have those individuals email our team at Support@articulate.com or start a case here. We'll need that email to come from the individual to confirm that we can delete it.
It's also important to keep in mind that there are two options for where a user may have to enter a password.
- The first is if you enable a password for the entire course. That prompt would appear when a user accesses your Share link and the password would be the same for all users.
- The second option would be if an individual already has an Articulate ID, they'll be prompted to log in if trying to comment with that email address. If they were to use a different email address and you were Allowing users without an Articulate ID to comment, then they'd just be able to enter in their email address and proceed.
Hope that helps clarify, and let us know if you need anything else!
Hi Wendy,
If you publish a Storyline course to Review you can enable that password or Articulate ID needed to comment feature. Then you'll use the Share link to send it out to your reviewers.

I am also having the same issue. The password box is not checked. Allow users without Articulate ID is checked. They still need to put in a password.
Hi David,
If your reviewers have an Articulate ID associated with the email address they're using to comment, that will prompt them to log in and provide their personal Articulate ID password. If they don't know what it is, they can use the Forgot Password feature to have it reset or they're welcome to use a different email address.

The email addresses are not associated with an Articulate ID
Hi David!
I'd like to investigate this a bit further with you, so I'm going to email you requesting some more information. Be on the lookout for that email soon!

Hi All,
I'm encountering the same challenges discussed here. No Password was set, and the intended Review Users do not currently have an Articulate Account. I've also tested using my Work Laptop, and a work specific email; neither of which has ever been associated with an Articulate licence.... yet a Password and email sign in is required.
My frustration here is whether or not the User ever had an account (potentially a Trial Membership) for a short period of time (and maybe years ago), the premise of Review, and the Sales pitch behind it, is that "Development is Global, and Review provides a centralised platform regardless of whether you're with Articulate or not"... There's certainly nothing in the glossy language I've seen that confirms that ones historical trial might be used as a 'welcome back, and possibly buy my product this time' marketing tool via the sign-in method and reasoning discussed by the staff in this thread. Instead, I was under the impression that I, as a licenced user, can build my course, publish it, and invite my team to review without any strings, passcodes, tricky marketing methods, and endless gateways of sign in attached. Just share the link and go... Rise allows this approach, so why doesn't Review??
As an aside, the commentary in other posts suggesting that emails are required so no posts can be 'anonymous' seems a little disingenuous to me... what does Articulate do with the emails provided that non-Articulate Users sign in with? From a Corporate Privacy standpoint I need to be transparent with my team (i.e. are they suddenly going to be receiving emails from Articulate after logging in to comment?)
Hi there, Aaron. When you click a link to view content in Articulate Review, you'll land on a screen that looks like this:
I opened that link in a private browsing window so that I'm not signed in anywhere. I think you're referring to the Sign In button at the top right of the screen. To view the content or to make comments, you don't need to click that Sign In button. Just start interacting with the course to review it.
So, why is the Sign In button there? Because this content is hosted on the Articulate 360 site, it includes the option to sign into 360 if you are a member. Can you let me know if you or your reviewers are having problems viewing the content without using that Sign In button?
We require an email address to post comments for two reasons: We use it to identify who made the comment for the course author. We also use it to email notifications specific to that content item if there's a reply to the comment. Apart from the content they're reviewing, people without Articulate IDs making comments will not receive any other kinds of emails from Articulate.
I can understand your concern about what we do with your reviewers' information. We take security seriously around here, so if you have any further questions, we're happy to answer! In the meantime, I'll share feedback about the confusion with the Sign In button at the top.

I am having the same issue. I posted a Rise course for review and the SME was prompted to enter her email and password but there was no password set for the course. I tested this with another individual so I could see what is happening first hand. She was also prompted for a password. She had to create an Articulate ID in order to leave feedback.
They can create the Articulate ID from the review link or set one up ahead of time directly by clicking here: https://community.articulate.com/user/registration/sign_up?_ga=2.114812800.660412301.1561664639-132921909.1552326077
I don't really like having to ask that create an account in order to leave feedback but that seems to be the only thing that works.

Hi Siesonn,
It sounds like you checked the Allowing users without an Articulate ID setting in Review 360, but your SMEs are seeing a prompt to enter their email and password. Is that right?
By default, reviewers can add comments to Review 360 projects without an Articulate ID. They’ll just be prompted to enter their email address to post comments so they can receive notifications for replies. However, if their email address is tied to an Articulate ID and if they aren’t already signed in, they’ll be prompted to enter their password. Check out this video to hopefully clear things up!

Yes:
* There is no password set for the course
* It's marked to allow users w/o Articulate IDs to comment
I purposely asked someone who has ever accessed Articulate before and she had the same issue. It is still prompting them for a password after they enter their email address. As you can imagine, they don't want to have to set up an account and it's resulting in a bit of confusion on ow to review the content.

Same here! Made sure the box is checked and NO password is set. Every time a SME attempts to access the review link, they're prompted to create an ID.

Hi Siesonn,
It looks like your settings are spot on. If your contacts don’t have an Articulate ID and are still prompted for a password, I’d like to open a case on your behalf and dig deeper into why that’s happening. Be looking out for an email soon!
By the way, it looks like you may have replied by email where your contact information came through. This Peek video will show you how to edit it out if you’d like!
