Audio over multiple slides in Storyline

I know that in Articulate Storyline you have to break up your audio by slide. I have some music I'd like to play over multiple slides. When I break up the music by slide though there seems to be a half second delay between slides which makes the music sound choppy, Is there any fix for this? I welcome any and all ideas

  • Hi everyone!

I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 74, we've included important fixes and new features.

One of the new features we've included is:

    • Create immersive experiences with continuous background audio that sets the tone and keeps learners engaged.

Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let me know if you have questions!

  • Hi Darren,

Thank you for chiming in to share that this is a feature you would like to see as well.

We currently have a general guideline and the details about how we manage these feature requests may be helpful to take a peek at.

In addition, this site has been recently implemented to share what we're currently committed to working on: Articulate 360 Feature Roadmap

You can see all of the new features and fixes historically in our Storyline 360 Version History and we are working to make this entire process more seamless and transparent.

Hey guys. I had a client request this feature and couldn't find an elegant solution anywhere. I managed to come up with my own solution that allows Storyline to pull the audio files from the resources section. You can view a sample here... https://360.articulate.com/review/content/d2fa518a-c4fc-456b-afaf-e8e21a544242/review

I had to create my own custom javascript, but I put together a video and a blog with all the javascript you'd need to recreate this effect on your own... https://digitallearning.studio/universal-audio_sl360/

Hope this helps! And happy Storylining!

  • Hi DG,

Your solution for the continuous music from one slide to the next is awesome. Thank you so much for sharing your solution and resources.

It's great Articulate added this new feature. I hope there will be more to come for the background music option. We need more granular settings and controls such as:

      • Apply background music to selected scenes only instead of the entire course
      • Allow users to specify the play duration for selected tracks
      • Option to fade in or fade out only instead of both
      • Allow triggers to control or lower the volume or mute background music
      • Allow triggers to play different tracks for different scenes

I can't wait to see more of this background music feature!

This is great and excellent additional suggestions from Daniel.  Articulate team, thanks for providing this new functionality.  What kind of timeline do you think for those additional suggestions?  Please don't take another 10 years.  :-)

  • Great news if using 360, but like the rest of us mere mortals using SL3, its a non starter.

I know i have sung about this, so won't go on ranting about it, but it would have been nice to have at least being given the opportunity (like many other software vendors) to upgrade. For example, i'd have been happy to pay for a SL3.x or even SL4.

I am guessing as much as my license will work for the next few years it will soon become obsolete.
