Button initial state not working

HI JenniferDickson did you actually preview the content? When "hidden", you can still see the button in author mode, but when previewing and viewing published content, it is hidden. This is to make it easier to work with in the author environment. The Storyline file I attached to my response demonstrates the "hidden" state.

Hi JenniferDickson are you absolutely sure that you downloaded and opened the file I provided, and didn't accidently open your own SL file again. I just downloaded the one I provided, with the initial state of "hidden" and the button is hidden until the 1,2 and 3 have a tick.
If it continues to happen, it is possible you have a problem with your software and may need to re-install it.

I've saved the file as a different version number so you can be sure you are opening this one up. Just download, open up, hit preview, and let me know if you still continue to have issues and don't get the same result as me.

Yes, have just downloaded this one and same issue. I'm about to get a new work laptop so maybe they'll install the latest version and it'll clear it up. Thank you for your help :)
Oh dear JenniferDickson . Here's a bit of a hack for you. The button animates on screen and sets the state to normal.
Hopefully your software version will support this? It does sound like you have quite a serious bug with the software though. It might be worth doing a publish to HTML and see if the issue still exists?
Thanks Sam! my workplace finally updated by Storyline (it was still on the January 2023 version and they had disabled updates). This workaround is also awesome, thank you for your help!
