I'm currently testing out and learning rise. In an introductory "lesson" we would like to show photos and contact info for staff. I would like to make the staff person's email address be a link that would open the learner's email app. I tried editing the embed link function in rise, but no matter what, it automatically appends "http://" in front of the "mailto:" link. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

This should really be considered a bug, not a feature request. Being able create a simple link to a email address shouldn't require the use of 3rd party URL shorter services.First, it hides the intended destination of the link, which from a cyber security stand point is a major issue. You can't expect learners to click on a link named "support@domain.com" then have it point to a URL that look like this "https://is.gd/1olhzu".Second, it now means that a pivotal piece of functionality like contacting support is riding on the availability of some unknown server/service.I understand this was meant as a work-around solution but it is basically a non-starter for any professional businesses/organizations.Can this be escalated to a "bug" status and provide us with a roadmap for implementation please?

Hi Martin, Mailto: URLs do not work but what you can do is to use a URL shortener to create an HTTP address that forwards to your mailto: URL. There are a few URL shorteners available out there but I have found that it works with http://is.gd. On the is.gd site, enter your mailto: URL like "mailto:someone@example.com" and then click on the "Shorten!" button. Copy the generated HTTP URL shortcut and use that URL in your Rise hyperlink. We're currently testing Rise and deciding whether to use this software as an organization and, while this is generally very good software, being able to use basic functions like mailto links do make a significant difference.

Hi Irina! Ah, thanks for pointing that out! We've made some tweaks to this feature, so now the hyperlink attached to an email address will correctly link to the mailto:. Refresh your browser tab, and let me know if you see an improvement!

Just chiming in to second this request! Hope to see it rolled out soon, it will definitely help us utilize Rise for different types of products.

Can a "mailto:" link be used within Rise?

Great questions, Thierry!

There isn't a way to add a mailto: link or a button in the course description area. I'll let our team know you have a need for that.

You can hide the course sidebar and the previous/next buttons in the Settings area. Under the Navigation tab, select No Sidebar, and set the previous and next buttons to Off.

Currently mailto: links aren't supported in the text hyperlink feature. If we add mailto: functionality in the future, we'll let you know!

  I was referring to the controls of the video (Play/Pause volume and progression bar/slider ...) but since we don't have the autoplay yet, it makes sense to have them there. :o)

Dear Alyssa,

With the buttons it works fine, I was referring to the nice auto-effect when in the regular paragraph you type text, an email, then press enter, and Rise automatically because of @ recognizes it as an email. only it creates a ling which is in a format "http:s://mailto:...." -- the substring "https " or http, is added automatically, making this link broken and mailto not working. If I manually update the link to the mailto: by removing the http substring - it still doesn't work.

  Hi Kevin! You may have missed it but Alyssa previously shared that we've already updated how hyperlinking works in Rise 360.
  
  Now, when you add an email address in Rise, it correctly parses the link as a mailto: link.
  
  If you don't see the changes, please clear your browser cache and you should be set!

Good morning/afternoon! I am not able to link to an email address in a Rise course by using the button stack feature. The Destination is set at Send an email and the email address entered is tmeyers@socalgas.com (my company does use Outlook for emails). If I use the is.gd URL creation to shorten my email address the resulting link sends the Rise user to our company intranet page not to my email.

Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your assistance!
