Captions disappear when timeline is paused
I would like to make it so the Closed Captions stay even when timeline (video) is paused, for example if user has problems hearing and reading, and would like to take his time.
How can I achieve this?
Hello Everyone,
I have some great news to share! We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 77, we've included important fixes and new features.
One of the enhancements we've included:
- Closed Captions disappear when timeline is paused using a trigger
Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you need additional help!

Hi Alissia,
I'he the same problem.
I have courses with scorm created with old release and here captions stay even when video is paused but there are some scorm created with new release in which this doesn't happen.....very bad to see...Waiting for the fix of this issue, do you think is possible to create a button that allows to leave the subtitle even when the video is paused?
Thank you
Hi Cristina,
You're in the right place for an update when we have one to share.
There is not a way to trigger the built-in player options, but you could manually build it if needed. This thread could help you get started.

Hi Leslie,
I don't want to trigger the built in player, and I know I can do it but the problem is always the same....when video is in pause captions disappear. It's a big problem for me..
I have many courses where the captions were always visible, even with the video "paused" until a few months ago (february). Now some scorms have been re-created with new release because I did some graphic variations, but they have lost the ability to make the captions visible when the videos are paused. My clients are negatively surprised and I do not know how to proceed. Maybe can I uninstall the latest version of storyline and then install an older version? but would the files created with last release always be readable with older version?
Thanks for the further details Cristina.
I've opened up a support case on your behalf so that you can work directly with a support engineer on the possibility of a previous version as you mentioned.
You should be hearing from someone soon via e-mail.

Just chiming in here that it is happening to my client's now as well. Seems to just affect Chrome users at the moment.

Thanks for letting us know this is affecting you as well, Diarmaid. We've prioritized a fix for this problem, and we'll notify you as soon as it's resolved!

I just took a look at the changes made with the release 3.4.15731.0 (Storyline 3). Could it be that solving the problem with the overlapping subtitles (see the 4th item in the list of changes for the release 3.4.15731.0) has caused our problem?

I have a 10 minute movie with subtitles, when I pause the movie the subtitles disappear. This occurs when viewed in all browsers, by the look of this thread it is a bug, I was hoping I had missed something. When might a proposed fix for this be issued to Storyline 3 users?

Just tested it in IE and FireFox to check, Andy is right. I don't think our client's noticed it yet as they typically turn the CC on and leave it on.

Hi everybody
I confirm that with the previous version that I used in February 2018 the problem did not exist. I uninstalled the current version, installed the oldest one, and now the subtitles remain visible even if the video is paused. But I do not have to make updates!
