Continued issues with text running off slide
I know this issue has been brought up before but it continues to persist and seems to be getting worse. We are using Storyline 360 on local computers. When we use a text placeholder from the Master slide, after the course is published, the text box loses it's "Wrap Text" property, even though the Master slide placeholder is set to wrap text. We've quit using the placeholders and simply add text boxes, but each time we have to make an update to an older course, it requires a lot of work to go and fix these text boxes. We see this behavior even in brand new courses.
For anyone having the issue, the fix is to right-click the text box, select Format Shape > Text Box tab and re-check the Wrap text box.
Hello Everyone!
I wanted to share some great news! We are no longer seeing the bug that caused text boxes to break after applying a built-in theme in projects imported from PowerPoint to Storyline.
Please make sure that you are using the current version of Storyline 360 (3.72.29699.0).
To confirm or update your version of Storyline 360:
- Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your Windows machine.
- Click the drop-down arrow next to Storyline 360 and select Other Versions.
- Here you will see the current version being used, or have the option to update.
Please let us know if you're still encountering the issue and we'd be happy to continue troubleshooting with you in a support case.

This was working but with the most recent update, my textboxes keep moving when I open the course again.
Hi Kerry!
Sorry you are still seeing this issue! Testing it out on my end, I experienced the same bug in versions .71, .72, & .73 of Storyline 360.
I went ahead and opened a case on your behalf so our support engineers can look into this further and will be in touch.
Thank you for reaching out!

I had this issue a couple of years ago, then it went away. Today it came back on an install I've been running without any issues until now.
It happens even on a brand new Storyline file with nothing imported from PowerPoint or anywhere else. If I save the file and close it down, then open it again, the text runs right of the page even when the standard title and text slide format is used.
I can't believe this is still a thing.
Hi Mark,
I'm sorry to hear you've hit this snag! You mentioned that you see the textbox breaking even with nothing imported from PowerPoint. It is possibly a different issue than the one reported in this post.
Please share the steps you're doing when the problem happens so we can investigate further. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi Eric,
Thanks for responding.
No specific steps that I have noticed. I create the file, type in the text, save and close the file. When I open it the next day the text on all slides is running off to the right. Way off, like three additional slide widths.
It happens randomly and doesn’t affect every file, but there is nothing unique about the affected files.
As I said, this exact thing happened a few years ago and then it stopped.
Best regards
Mark Johnson
Hi Mark!
Thanks for sharing the feedback! Sorry to hear that text breaking out from the text box has been an ongoing issue for you! I'd be happy to provide some insight!
Testing out those steps you mentioned in several different Storyline 360 courses (version 3.75.30269.0) I was unable to reproduce the same behavior. Every time I re-opened a saved course after adding a text box, the text always retained proper formatting.
I just had a clarifying question. Are you working locally? We recommend you Create, Edit, and Publish Courses on Your Local Hard Drive while authoring.
Also, if you would be willing to share one of the .story files that consistently displays this issue, I'd be happy to take a closer look and test it out on my end as well!
Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi, i also facing the same issue. Once i import a slide from PowerPoint into storyline and i change the layout it looks fine. When i save my storyline file and opens the next time, the text on all slides is running off to the right. Wrap text was unchecked automatically, Could you please gudie me to fix this issue?
Hi, Raj!
Thanks for reaching out and I'm so sorry you're experiencing this issue. I'm happy to help narrow down the issue and have a couple of questions to start.
- Are you working and saving the course on your local drive? Working from a network drive can cause erratic behavior.
- Is this issue isolated to one project or happening with multiple projects? If just one project, have you tried importing your slides into a new Storyline project?
With your permission, I'd like you to share your project file with our support engineers to investigate what's happening. You can share it here or privately in a support case. It will be deleted when troubleshooting is complete!

Hi Kelly Auner,
Yes I work in my local drive only. I just import the PPT in new storyline file i face this issue. Please find the attachment of a sample PPT and Storyline file.
Please check and let me know your comments.

Good Day,
I am really struggling to upload a PPT presentation onto Storyline, similar to many of the above struggles from users. I have even created a brand new PowerPoint presentation and can still not upload it. I am not able to share my presentation, since it is private property of the company I work for. Please assist me with a solution?
I attached the error message I keep getting. I have updated my storyline to the latest version and this did not solve the issue.
Kind regards,
Jana

I am importing from my computer hard drive and I have tried importing it in a new file on storyline
Hello Jana,
Sorry to hear that you ran into this issue.
This article explains possible reasons why your PowerPoint presentations are not importing properly, as well as how to solve them.
You'll also want to make sure that you have a supported version of Microsoft Office installed. If the issue persists, try doing a repair of your Storyline 360 installation to see if this helps.
Let me know if this works for you!
Hi Jana,
Thanks so much for following up on this and I'm sorry to hear that the issue persists! I've opened a support case on your behalf so we can investigate what's going on. You'll be hearing from one of our Support Engineers soon via email. Also, just a quick note that replying via email includes your signature here so you are welcome to edit the post and remove that information if you wish!
Hi everyone!
I have some great news to share! We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 81, we've included important fixes and new features.
One of the bugs we've fixed is:
- Text box breaks after applying blank layout to existing slide with custom layout
Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
Please let me know if you need additional help!

I found that this happens when a font in the project isn't loaded on the computer opening it currently.

Still happening to me! Import from PPT, apply layout and it all looks good. Save and close, but the next time i go back in, the text is off the page.
Hi Sandy!
Is this happening with a specific font or every font? As Andrew shared, it also could be that the font isn't installed on the computer. Do you mind sharing the PowerPoint and .story file with us? You can share it in this discussion or privately in a support case.
