dymanic states in response to a correct or incorrect answer?

Hi all. I have a project where I ask the user to do the following:

First, type in the excess amounts over $5,000 in the three slots. Then, add the numbers together to get a total. What I would like to have happen is for the check (correct) or x (incorrect) to appear dynamically if the user decides to change their answer. Is this possible without javascript? Thanks!
