How do I get user response data out of Likert Survey responses?
I guess I'm not getting it but what is the purpose of the Likert survey type questions in SL? When I click "Submit" where is the data going? Does it only work with Articulate Online or another LMS?
I'd like to be able to have each selection set a value to a variable which could then be used to deliver custom content based on how the user replied to the survey. For example, they rated themselves low on a set of questions so I want SL to suggest they study a certain set of slides. Likewise if they rated themselves high they would be directed to skip a another set of slides.
I can do this with button sets and multiple variables without using either quiz or survey slides but it can be pretty tedious. I'm wondering how and why anyone would use the built in Likert Survey questions... i.e., how do I get the user data out of them so I can do something useful with it... Or is there another way?
I should mention that I want to have 3-4 "questions" on each slide so Jeanette's suggestion doesn't quite work for me.
Hi Elias and welcome to E-Learning Heroes! Thanks for your feedback on this. I wanted to let you know that you can submit your feature requests here.

Hi everyone, I know this is an old thread, but wondering if there has been any update to the Likert scale reporting from Storyline into LMS? I'm trying to create a survey using Likerts and report on the users' answers, but haven't found it to work yet... Thanks!
Hi Lulu!
This is a bit dated. Limitations on survey reporting is typically a problem within the LMS as Storyline sends the data.
Now, when this thread was going, it was probably prior to Update 6 of Storyline 1 (latest update here), where we did have an update to Likert reporting.

Thanks for your response Leslie! I am using Storyline 2 now, but still not able to report on the data in the LMS. I have also posted my question in more detail in another forum here: https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/everything-we-know-about-cornerstone-on-demand-and-storyline?page=8#reply-357686
Thanks for linking the threads Lulu. I'll take a look.

Can anyone confirm that apparently Articulate Online can not retrieve survey results (specifically Likert Survey results) either? Is there a way to retrieve survey results in AO? I'm using Storyline2 and when I login to AO and go to reports, survey results do not show? thanks for any help on this.
Hi Michael!
What report are you trying to run? I can see the results when looking at the Answer Breakdown Report for a Likert Question:

I would like to point out that this thread is now 10 years old, we are on Storyline 360, and the consensus (plus my experience) is that Likert Style Survey questions still do not report in a way that any LMS (either than, apparently, Articulate Online) can interpret.
If this question type is useless (or limited only to use with Articulate's LMS), and there is no plan to ever fix it, please remove the feature or indicate its limitations somewhere on the feature, so that your users don't keep thinking we can add these questions and have to spend the time trying to figure this out and reworking our designs.
Articulate's product is expensive. Please respect your customers by cleaning up your backlog of infinitely old "known things that don't work".

I agree with Fiona. Right now the Likert question is essentially a trap.

I am in the same boat. Likert is reporting as "incorrect" in my Absorb LMS, when just a week ago it was reporting "agree, disagree, etc" like it was supposed to. I am (somewhat) glad that it doesn't appear to be a "me" issue - but seeing how old this thread is doesn't give me much hope for a quick resolution.
Hi Cas,
I see you're also working with John, one of our Support Engineers, regarding the Likert scale issue. We'll continue the conversation on your support case to keep the information in one place. But I'm happy to help with anything else as needed!
