Why is it not possible to add a link to an image in Rise? This seems like a basic feature.

I know I can appply a hyperlink to text in the description, but it would be nice to be able to apply the hyperlink to an image, in any type of image block. Seems like something fairly straightforward!

Thanks Wileen for chiming in. 😊 As a workaround for now, try using a Storyline block. Here's an example I mocked up with a Storyline slide that has an image hyperlinking to a website. One of the things I love about 360 is how the integration of our tools makes it really easy to come up with outside-of-the-box ideas. I hope that's a solution that folks can use!

Four....years....three years of being strung along only to be told it's not coming. I am in awe at the lack of meaningful responsiveness from the development team. While I value tremendously the creativity and imagination of this community of designers, it seems like half the posts are about designing work arounds for basic features this software should have out of the box. Years ago, a "helpful" suggestion from Staff was usually a work around for a young and promising product, with confidence that the product was evolving and these issues would be addressed. Now, a "helpful" suggestion from Staff means "wait four or five years and we might get around to looking at it a bit before telling you it's 'not on our roadmap.'" Basically, if it doesn't already exist, good luck asking. But meanwhile, look at how accessible we are! Confidence in "adding it to our feature request list" is shot. Just say no. I am also breathless with dismay that, years into this thread discussion/request, a member of Staff came to the group to ask why we might need/want clickable image links in Rise...and expected the customer to take time out busy schedules to provide specific examples. This is such a basic, obvious feature...I can't tell if they were stalling for more time or if the developers truly don't understand the business their customers are in. This week, our team formally opened discussions about sunsetting Articulate as our primary design suite and demoting it to a basic solution for occasional use, rather than a creative one for innovative learning. Four years....

+2, This is such a basic principal; and as you can see from all the posts, a very needed feature. I'm surprised this thread started nearly a year ago and the problem still exists.

It's been over a year since I originally posted about this issue and it is still not resolved. It's nice to have new features in Rise, but it would be great if you could address the simple fixes that many people need. I hope everyone that posted on this topic submitted a feature request!

I just revisited this thread after a while and yes, our team is still waiting for this basic functionality to link images to sections within the Rise course or external links.

We're using Rise more and more as new features are introduced. However, we're still hesitant to embrace it because of some limitations like this one... basic image linking that's standard throughout the web.

Hope Articulate follows through on this request soon!

Hi Crystal,

I think there's a benefit to having buttons and the flexibility to customize design and make clickable images. I have attached a rough sketch of what types of ideas I wanted to use in Rise courses, but wasn't able to.

Hi Allison, thanks for the quick reply. I saw the attachment block in the Multimedia tab, that lets me attach the document, but what I was looking for was a way to highlight some text, and attach a link to a pdf so when the student clicks on the highlighted text the document opens, rather than have to attach the pdf below the content. Anyway to do this?

  To do that you would need to host your PDF on a web server and then create a hyperlink to it.

I also would like to add a hyperlink to an image. Seems like this feature request has been out for a long time. The chat window I'm typing in now has more functionality than what I see in rise (ability to add code, hyperlink add image/video to text box). This little window alone in Rise might have solved some of these requests. Can this window (with html toggl option added) AND the ability to hyperlink an image be included?!?

+1 - This is such a basic function. As a minimum it must be easy to allow an external URL to be added to an image. We can do this for text... why not an image??? This discussion is over 3 years old, is this feature coming?

This is a 3 years long pending feature request with Rise. We should have this feature to include the image hyperlinks to move/jump both inside the course and outside URLs.
