Migration from Flash to SCORM

Hi all,

We have three very old courses that are Flash-based and packaged in SCORM 1.2. We would like to convert these existing Flash courses to SCORM. To view the Flash content, we tried using Ruffle and some browser extensions from the Chrome Web Store, but we were unable to see the course output.

Can anyone please advise if there is a way to view the output of these existing Flash-based courses?

Thank you.

    Hi Padmakar,

I used to love developing in Flash and did many elearning courses in it.

If you have the original Flash source files, you can just open them in Adobe Animate l, and that will play fine.

Unfortunately - if you dont have the Flash source, and only have the published output - it is very much End Of Life, and there isn't any real way to view this content anymore on modern machines.

Even if you could get an old enough version of a browser, Windows released a patch that blocks all flash content from running, so it still wouldn't work.

The only way is to have a very old Windows 7 machine and don't allow it to install any updates. That will play your content.

When we need to update old Flash courses, we play them on the old computer and screen record them.

This is then used as a reference when rebuilding in Storyline.

    Hope that helps!
