Need help thinking through interaction

Hello all!

I have an interaction idea and I need to see if it's possible.

Attached is an image mock up of what I'd like to create.

Learners will need to be able to drag tasks from the left to the empty spots in the schedule (right now these are indicated with red text).

But, a few things I'm stuck on:

  1. The items on the left need to repopulate (learners can use them multiple times).
  2. Most time spots will be 30 minutes so learners need to be able to drag one 30 minute task to the spot or two 15 minute tasks.

Is it possible to create this interaction without the use of crazy coding or javascript or an uncontrollable amount of variables and triggers?

what about rather than click and drag, you have in the 30 min spots 5 small dots or icons or something and they can click the dot corresponding to which item they want and that item shows in the box. I attached a crude pic to demo what I mean. That way you only need to reveal the layer they want but they will all be there in each box. Also means if they chang their minds they can click to reveal a different layer. You could even have a "clear selection" icon so they could see a blank before choosing another option.

This could work. How would I have an option for them to choose either one 30 minute or two 15 minute? Each spot is 30 minutes and they have to use up the total 30 minutes.

may have 2 options for each box, a 2x15 box and a 1x30 box. OR make all the options 15 min and they can add 2 of those for the 30 min options.🤷🏽‍♀️

  • Everything is possible. Crazy coding doesnot exist if you do it right. If it gets complicated Storyline has the tendency to need a mass of triggers. If that happens you need Javascript.
Do share a sample of what you already got and pinpoint problems somewhat preciser.
