NEW IN RISE 360: Closed Captioning
We’ve just released a powerful new feature in Rise 360: closed captioning. Now you can upload closed caption files to videos to make your content more accessible.
It’s easy to add closed captions to your Rise 360 courses. Just click Edit and select Manage captions in any block that showcases a video. Select the language, and then add your file. You can add as many languages as you like.

Hello, I loaded captions to multiple videos in my Rise course. Then I published the course for the web and hosted it on our server. I also published a SCORM 2004 4th edition for our LMS. The captions work perfectly on our LMS. But when you access the course via our web servers, the captions do not work. Any thoughts?
Hi, Hayley — I would suggest testing your SCORM output file in another LMS environment, like SCORM Cloud. Then you can compare the behavior in SCORM Cloud to your LMS experience to try to parse out Rise 360 issues versus LMS issues. We are happy to help you with that testing if you'd like to share your output file!
Hi, Jeffrey — When you published your course for Web, did you follow these steps? Did you make any changes to the published output file before hosting it on your web server?
Hi Alyssa! Yes, I did follow those instructions exactly. I did not make any changes to any files when I uploaded to our server. I even verified that the caption files were in the assets folder. The video player shows that there are captions, but when I select “English” the captions do not appear on the player.

Hello, wondering if there was a solution to the issue that Jeffrey was having. We are having the same issue, and wondering how to fix it.
Hi Cari-Ann, Articulate's support suggested the following and it fixed our issue:
"Since it works in the Share link, publishing to an LMS and another webserver like AWS. Please check with your admin and see if adding VTT as a MIME type in your web server will resolve the closed captions issue in your Rise course."

How long does it take to upload a .VTT file? The video is roughly 3 minutes long. It just continues to say uploading....
I tried importing the same .VTT file into Storyline and it worked immediately. Any help identifying why I can't import my captions to Rise?
I'm having the same issue in Rise 360. I added .vtt caption files to four videos over the last few days with no problem. This afternoon, I added a .vtt caption file to a fifth video and the tool continues to say uploading but nothing happens. I tried using a .vtt file from one of the four videos that worked and the same issue happens, so I know it's not the .vtt file that's causing the problem.
I'm pretty sure there's a Rise 360 caption glitch going on. I just complete a test with a video that had captions working fine. I was going to test by using the "remove captions" feature in the "manage captions" tool and then add back in the same .vtt file. I can't even remove captions now.

I can't share the files because they contain internal company information. I tried to upload the .VTT file to numerous videos, including a video block where I left the default video.
Do you have a sample .VTT file I could try?

Can you please add the function to be able to have the closed caption turned on as default. Currently the learner has to turn the closed caption on for every video they watch and many courses are made up for a collection of short videos (ours have 20 odd videos)
I need the same course created in multiple languages. The Videos are in English however we would like to use closed captions and translate the activities for a different course for each language.
Could you offer any support or feedback?
