Recovering Storyline Content - Loading Storyline Output

Hello! One of my trainers left our company. I am trying to edit a training she built within Storyline 360. I cannot locate the "Articulate Storyline Story" within her files; however, I found the "Storyline Output". Is there a way I can take that output and upload it back into storyline?

I also found the content published within Review 360. Could I take it from Review 360 and put it back into Storyline 360 to edit?

I have the old PowerPoint, but it is outdated and does not have many of the slides/interactions that she built within Storyline. I appreciate your help in saving me a lot of time!!

  • Sorry, but there is not really a way to recover. With luck and a. lot of hard work, you might be able to recover some of the images and other similar resources, but not the slides.

  • Hi Allison!

Sorry to hear you've run into this issue! Glad to see Walt has been helping you!

Unfortunately, content that has been outputted cannot be reinstated to Storyline 360. This includes content currently hosted on Review 360 as well.

However, if your IT department still has access to your former colleagues’ computer or backup files, you may be able to retrieve a version of the file by searching for the .story file with the same name as your .zip file. Or you might be able to retrieve it from the temporary files folder.

    Here’s how:

    1. Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline
    2. Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of the project. If found, copy it to the desktop. If there’s more than one, copy the latest version to the desktop.
    3. Change the file extension of the copy on the desktop from *.tmp to *.story.
    4. Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.

Please let me know if you have any more questions!
