Remembering Text Entry Upon Resume
I think this has been asked before, but maybe there's been an update since. If a text entry is filled in by a learner, will it remember that entry and show again if the course is closed and resumed?

Hi!
It seems that text entry data is lost when having a storyline block imbedded in articulate rise. Is there any way to work around this?

Rise doesn't submit/save any data from Storyline blocks.
JavaScript could work, but I don't have the expertise to help with that.

When you insert a text-entry field, Storyline automatically creates a variable to store the entry.
The variable is updated when the field "loses focus" (that is, when the learner clicks outside of the field).
If the course is in an LMS, Storyline stores the resume data in the LMS. That data includes the value of the variables in the course.
The caveat is that the user has to advance to another slide to save the data from the slide they're on. So if they entered their text and then closed the course without going to another slide, the value would be lost.
- To help avoid that type of situation, I've seen folks add an EXIT button to the Player that opens a slide asking the learner to confirm that they want to leave the course. That slide has buttons that let them either CANCEL (i.e., return to the course) or EXIT. That'll ensure that the data from the most recently viewed content slide gets saved. (Well, assuming the learner uses the EXIT button...)
