Retry only incorrect questions not working

I'm trying to edit a results slide so that a user can only resit the questions that they have got wrong.

I've followed the instructions on the link below to reset the quiz using the reset button and it automatically jumps to sit all the questions not just the failed ones. This despite clicking the reset only incorrect questions tickbox in the trigger.

Also, when adding the reset button it automatically sets up a trigger to jump to the 1st quiz question?

  • Hi Nabeel,

I understand that you're seeing questions that should be outside of the randomly selected question set. We weren't seeing this bug in Storyline 360 Update 60, but it sounds like you might be experiencing this bug in one of our latest updates. Can you share which update you're working in? Also, do you mind attaching your .story file to this discussion or uploading it privately in a support case?

    Thanks for reaching out!

Hi - Any progress on this issue as Ren described above?

The option to "Reset only incorrect questions" briefly shows the first question slide when users retry the quiz.

This is happening to me as well and I can't find a workaround. It's distracting to the Learner.

    Thanks!

      Hi Kevin,

Whilst not a solution to the issue, we've added a shape that covers the entire screen with an exit animation when the slide starts.

For the user, this adds a small increase in the slide transition time, but removes the flash of the first question slide.

It does make viewing and editing slides a little more painful on our side, but greatly improves the learning experience.

  • Hi Kevin,

Thanks for reaching out and I'm so sorry you're running into this issue! Unfortunately, we don't currently have a workaround for this, but we'll be sure to update you in this discussion as soon as we have news to share on a fix. If you need help with anything else in the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out or share your file with us for further troubleshooting!

Thank you for the replies Kelly and Hon!

I tried several workarounds; covering the screen as you suggest, adding "blank" screens both at beginning and end of question bank, even making additional question banks placed before and after the actual "quiz" bank, changing the state of the elements to "hidden" for the initial and ending screens, etc. and while these workarounds would trigger, they would always happen AFTER the "flash" of the first question from the bank.

Hoping Articulate can fix this issue as it's inherent from the application; my feeling is it has something to do when quiz is reset and has to show a question to initialize the quiz?

    Thanks, Kevin

  • Hello, Everyone!  ✨

I'm happy to share that we have released a new update for Storyline 360 (v3.80.30988.0.).

In this update, we have implemented a fix for:

    • "Reset only incorrect questions" briefly shows the first question slide when users Retry the quiz

Please update to the latest version of Storyline 360 to take advantage of the fix. Here's how:

    Update Authoring Apps

If you have any questions, please let us know in this thread or privately in a support case.

    Have a great day!

  • Hello Jose,
I am using v3.81.31200.0 and this problem with the first question slide showing when users Retry the quiz is still present. Did something break between the version you mentioned and this version? Do you have a workaround, because it does not look good! Any information is appreciated!

  • Hello again! I think I found something that is helpful. On the Quiz Result Slide, select the Retry Button that is available on the toolbar. Once placed, you can look at it's trigger properties and apply them to the button you've got, or change the Retry Button's fill/shape, etc. to match your own button design. It has worked much better by using the Retry Button that is available in the program.

      Hello Catherine,

Thanks for sharing your workaround! That would be super helpful for anyone who finds this post because they are experiencing the same issue.

I created a new Storyline 360 project file to test this behavior and on my end, I didn't see the first slide of my quiz when I clicked on the Retry Quiz button. Since you mentioned seeing this behavior in your course, would you be willing to share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at it? We'll delete it when we're done testing!
