Rise quotes and quotation marks
Is there a way to change the color of the quotation marks in quote blocks in Rise? I've set my background to a dark color and my font to white, but the quotation marks remain dark.
Hi Everyone!
I'm happy to share that we released a new update for Rise 360!
This update fixes the issue you ran into where Quotation marks in Quote Blocks are not following the font formatting of your text entries. There's nothing to install for web apps. New features and fixes are immediately available!
Please let me know if you have any questions about this update or the issue you reported!

Also, in French we don't use the same quotes and cannot use those blocks either, would like to have the option to not use them.
Hi there, Mylene. Thanks for bringing this issue up. Currently, quote blocks will always display English-style quotation marks.
I've created a feature request to help us gauge the customer impact, and I'll let you know here if we release any changes!

@alyssa,
I'm working on a German product at present too, and language-specific quotation marks are a miss for us too, e.g. „an“

Related would be font size. This is a recent example of what happens if I try to increase the font size for my company's requirements—obviously the quotation marks are way too small now.
Alternately, please give us a Statement Block that is similar to the quote blocks, allowing the small picture window that gives us full control of the text, whether we include quotations marks or not. This would solve the font color, French and German requirements, size, etc. (Feature request 02764278 submitted using http://www.articulate.com/support/contact/submit.php?form=feature) - MichelleRakarCommunity Member
I agree that this feature would be really helpful! I've been using quote blocks to have an icon next to text in a centered format, so using the quote blocks have been able to accomplish this.
Unfortunately, without being able to change the color of the quotations in these quote blocks, I haven't been able to use dark background colors, since it's not very appealing to see dark quotations on a dark-colored background. I've attached an image to this post to further illustrate this.
If you could add this feature to change the color of the quotations with the text color, that would be ideal!

Another similar comment - Placing an end quote in the 'quote on image' or providing the option for the user to add a matching close quote would be helpful. When people review this block, they don't always realize the opening quote is an artistic choice. They think having a missing close quote or a non-matching close quote (if it's typed in) are editing mistakes.
Hey Heather! The prebuilt Quote blocks will keep the default formatting of the quotation marks. I can see how with an option like Quote D, the marks feel like they should adopt the same font color. Let me talk this over with my team.
In the meantime, would using a Text or Statement block type be an acceptable workaround? Or possibly an Image + Text block?

(I am trying to use large font in the quote blocks, but it looks silly to have a 22 pt statement with tiny quotation marks, as I cannot edit the size of the quotation marks.) Using Text blocks is helpful; however, I like the option to use Block Entrance Animation to add a little action in non-interactive items. This feature excludes Text blocks, which removes this element from my quotations (which I like having an entrance). My other option is to make the quotations smaller so they look nicer with the hard-wired quotation marks. But that now doesn't draw your eye to a small statement.
I think with the Quote blocks, why even include the "" in the programming? Just allow us to add them with the texts? This would solve any of our issues (change of color, size, and using punctuation for other languages) as what is shown would match what we are entering in the field. Or have an option to "include quotation marks" as an option, which would allow us to include the pre-programmed marks or exclude them? Just some ideas.- KarlMullerCommunity Member
Hi Lorri,
You can try this for Quote Blocks to get rid of the quotation marks:
Delete all the text from the Quote area and leave it blank.
Add your text to the Name area. Format the text just like any other text paragraph. You can add your own quotation marks.
Note: Quote A and C will force a "-" at the start of the text.
Change the avatar to another image.
Thanks for chiming in, Michelle! That screenshot you included is really helpful. I'll pass this on to my team!
Thanks for adding your voice, Adam!

Similar question about quotes but mine question is about the 'quote on image' quote block. There is only 1 quote mark on the left side. Is that how it's supposed to be and look?
Hi Kathleen! Yes, that quote is there as a design element, and right now there isn't a way to remove it. I'll let our team know you need that option!
