Sticking a dropped object on a moving target
Greetings Articulate community,
I am trying to drag and drop a object on a moving target (using a hot spot) and when that object is dropped it will "stick" to the spot it is dropped on and stay there. Think of it like where you would have a bullseye target moving back and forth and the arrow is the object and when that arrow "hits" that bullseye target it sticks in place, and stays there where it lands while the bulls eye target continues to move back and forth. With everything I have tried with the hot spot the dropped item wont stick in place to the moving target. Unfortunately with all the research I have done and everything that I have tried, I have not been able to get it working properly. Any thoughts or ideas everyone? Thanking you in advance!
Hi joseph!
Thanks for reaching out!
I noticed you've opened a support case and connected with my teammate, Lejan. As Lejan shared:
"There is currently no built-in feature in Storyline that will make a drop item inherit the animation or motion path triggers of its drop target. If you drop an item to a target, it will always stick to the target depending on the drop target options, but it will not move even though the target is using motion paths".
Thanks for letting us know this type of design functionality is important to you. I've shared your feedback with our product team!
In the meantime, I'll open the floor to our helpful community who may be able to share workaround suggestions!

I haven't tried this but I think if you add a Drop Correct state to the moving target and paste a copy of the object you want dragged onto the target in the Drop Correct state, you could achieve what you're trying to accomplish. You will have to use something different than a hot spot (perhaps a 99% transparent shape) as the moving target since hot spots don't have states. Once the object is dragged to the moving target, have a trigger fire to change the state of the draggable object to hidden.
