Storyline - need direction with an effect
Hi there,
I've got an issue (not really sure how to move forward).
Early days getting our corporate induction up and running in a new business and I've got a slide where I want to illustrate the different markets my company operates in, you'll notice in the attachment, I've marked up the countries in black colour each with a tiny blue input (USA, South Africa, Australia and NZ).
I want constant these blue inputs to constantly pulse/flash. I tried the looping feature to perform this, but I'm not want them to move around in a pathway, just remaining in their current position and blink/ pulse (similar to how PPT allows users to enable).
Is this something you can assist me with, I don't know how to make it work.
I had put in a ticket with the response giving me the below links:

I didn't find what I needed to make the desired effect happen.
I've attached the project for you to have a look at.

Hi Marcus
not ideally what you want but perhaps a marker would work - you can set the animation to pulse and check the audio only option so the marker caption box doesn't show.

Hey Wendy, thank you for the helpful suggestion. This actually works. Only thing, is there a way to make the circle marker/s smaller?
- WendyFarmerSuper Hero
Hi Marcus
unfortunately not - they are set at a default size of 28 x 28 pixels. That's why I mentioned it might not be ideal. I tried putting a donut shape over it coloured in black to try and blend with the background but because the pulse animation surrounds the marker it shows up just as large. Sorry...its been a feature request to be able to resize markers for a long time.

Right I gotya. Understand. Thank you anyway for the insight Weny, in the meantime I've just made the image larger so the markers don't look OTT.
Thank you again for the assistance.

Glad that will work for you Marcus - all the best with your project.
Here's a way you can create a custom pulse animation.

Hey Tom,
Thanks so much!
I had resorted to using one of the markers which gives the desired effect however the sizing cannot be altered which cause me to need to create larger than desired images to make it look kind of normal.
This video suggestion is great as you can clearly adjust the size of the object oval.
Thanks mate, much appreciated!
Regards

My go to way to loop animation it to put the cycling components in a layer that has a trigger to move the timeline for the layer to 0s when the timeline ends for the layer.
I find this is an approach that is easy to manage. Yeah, that's a good way to go for looping animations. There's probably a break even point as to when to use layers and when to use states.

Layers are a great organizational method. Using layers lets you use the timeline, which helps to nail the right timing.
States are great for object specific animations. States are harder to edit, and less obvious that there are multiple states.
