Video Embed Issue

I am having a couple issues with an embedded video through my company's secured website. It appears to be correct when I preview the Rise course. When I export and view the file, all it exported was the authentication screen and nothing else from the course.

As a work around, I've tried using a shortened URL code to embed the file that should bypass the security authentication needed to access the video. When I do this, the screenshot that is attached is what shows in the Rise course. If I click on the link, it will take me to the video, but that's not what I need it to do. It won't show the video itself. If I can get the video to appear versus the image in the screenshot, I am hoping the pdf export will work properly.

Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

  • Hi Katie! Thanks for reaching out about this. You mentioned that the embedded video appears correctly when you preview the Rise course, but it doesn't work after you publish the course. Are you viewing the published output locally? If so, that could be the reason why the embedded video doesn't appear.

Instead, host the exported output on a web server or LMS, or view the Share link. Please let me know if that makes a difference!

Hi Alyssa, Thank you for your reply. When the export output is for the web, LMS or view as the Share link, the embedded video works just fine. My problem is I need a pdf of the Rise course to archive for Compliance purposes for my company. That's where I'm running into the issue of the video causing issues. All it will output for me is the authentication screen. It won't even output the rest of the course into a pdf.

Any ideas of how to work around this?

      Thanks!

  • Hi Katie! Thanks for reaching out! Regarding the video being static, content. This is the expected behavior of the PDF export.

Since the embedded video can't be seen and is locked behind authentication, you can duplicate this course and remove that video block as a workaround when exporting it as a PDF. This should remove the authentication that is blocking you from seeing the rest of the course in the PDF.

Here's how the interactive parts of your Rise 360 course appear in the PDF file:

    • Hyperlinks work as expected and launch in your default web browser.
    • Audio clips, videos, and web objects become static placeholder images.
    • Interactions, such as labeled graphics and tabs, become a series of screenshots, one for each item in the interaction. (Each flashcard becomes two screenshots, one for the front and another for the back.)
    • A Storyline block becomes a screenshot of the first slide in the project.
    • Quiz lessons and knowledge check blocks display questions and answer choices. They don’t show correct/incorrect responses or feedback statements.
